Secret Vampire is the first of many books in the Night World series. They were written by an amazing writer called L.J. Smith. The Night World series is all about creatures of the night, including werewolves, vampires, witches, shapeshifters etc.

Everyone has a soulmate, but when the people of the Night World start to find that their soulmates are humans, things start to get really scary.

The first book is called Secret Vampire. A teenage girl called Rosie has been diagnosed with severe cancer. Her family and her brother are all devastated. One night, while Rosie is in her hospital room, her best friend, James, comes to her bedside. He tells her that he could save her and that she would never get another illness ever again. She takes it the wrong way, thinking that James is taking the mick out of her, so she calls a nurse. James takes drastic action and uses mind control on the nurse. She leaves them to their private discussion in peace. He opens his mouth and places his hand onto his canine. Slowly, the human tooth turns into an unhumanly sharp canine. The truth is revealed that he is a vampire, but will he make Rosie one of his people? Or leave her to die?
