    1st Data Collection Session
    07/12/07

The first data collection at Marske Library was a great success, although we only had a few people coming and giving us pictures to scan and use in our archive. The people that came kept us all busy and engaged their fascinating stories about marske and the events that happened, like Empire day.

We managed to add 33 images to our archive and also we recorded the stories of the photos with 12 stories told to us and hundreds more that we haven't recorded.

Vera, a retired school teacher with an MBE for teaching for 40 years, especially made us enjoy ourselves, and we've learned a huge amount of the history of Marske from her, like there is one of the few listed telephone boxes in the country behind the Ship Inn.

We all enjoyed it, with Mrs Race, Miss Smith, Steve Thompson and Tracey from the Libary overlooking everything. James, Mike, Camille, Sam, Charlotte, Rachel, Conor, Hayley and Amy all doing the Data Collection and listening to every word that members of the public told us.

In conclusion it was much more intresting than first expected, and we were allways kept very busy.
