    This photo was supplied by Bertram Hook who was born in the village and lived at The Green until age 10 when the family moved to Consett. Bertram is now 94 and recalls this photo was taken at the old County school opposite the current school site.

    Hunwick Womans Institute 1935-1994.

    Hunwick Womans Institute was formed in 1935 had 59 successful years until a lack of committe support forced its closure. Mrs. Gallon (pictured) was present at the first meeting and was a member for 49years. She was a member until its closure.
